Today in episode five, we are talking with a type 2 entrepreneur who is also identified with a stronger wing three. And as a reminder, our type twos are driven by this want to be loved, to want to be wanted, appreciated, and they're running away from the fear of being unwanted, unloved, feeling replaceable. Our twos have a superpower where they have this ability to sense others' needs. They are very intuitive, tend to be very warm and thoughtful, great listeners, very supportive friends. Um and on a team, they are going to be the ones that are gonna take initiative and step in and help however needs to be helped. And they're typically gonna bring optimism and a lot of positive light to a group. Now, the thing that our twos tend to struggle with is they forget about their own needs and wants because they're putting others ahead of them. And then as a type um two with a wing three, this type is called the host or the hostess. And they are gonna be pretty self-assured, maybe a little bit more than the other wing. Um, charming, very flattering, ambitious, outgoing, maybe a little competitive. Um, and they tend to be a little bit more focused on success. So as we go into this interview with Tamisha, who's gonna share a little bit about what it's like being a type two. And then in this one, we're gonna get into all the types. So, regardless of what you identify with, you are going to get something from this one that's very specific for you. But Tamisha is not gonna be every single one of these. You, if you identify as a two, will not be all of those that I just listed, but it will start to give you some additional insight about yourself, potentially, if this is one that you're leaning towards, and give you some insight into those around you who may have some of these um behaviors, tendencies, and you'll get some better understanding of why they do what they do. So, this one is going to be really fun jumping into creating healthy and sustainable habits that are aligned with our unique personality and these motives. So, without further ado, let's jump in and meet to meet you. Welcome to the Enneagram MBA Podcast, a show for aspiring and growing entrepreneurs and unfulfilled employees who know they are capable of playing bigger. If you are wanting to identify your gifts, find your purpose, do work that matters, and create a ripple effect that goes beyond yourself, you're in the right place. Each week you'll get resources, strategies, and support to help you get to know yourself, to get to know and understand others, like your future clients, and to help you get known so that you can reach more people with your gifts and purpose. So grab your notebook or open up your notes app, and I will see you in class. Okay. Today is going to be a really fun and really specific topic that we are talking about the Enneagram with, and we're talking about Enneagram and eating and exercise. And I'm being joined today by Tamisha Campbell, who is a Marine Corps veteran turned health and nutrition coach. And we both are doing multiple things in life. We are both um starting businesses, growing businesses, as I know you are. And yes, we could talk strategy and marketing ideas and business plans. And we will and we do and we want to learn about that stuff, but also there is a place to make sure that we're taking care of ourselves so that we can do those things that propel our business forward. Um, and so today, Tamisha is going to be sharing some of her expertise and insight on how to make sure that we stay healthy, happy, energetic, and taking care of ourselves so that we can do this for the long haul. So, with that, welcome, Tamisha.
SPEAKER_00Welcome. Thank you so much for inviting me on your podcast. I'm so excited to have this conversation with you.
SPEAKER_02I know. I think it's going to be really, really good. And it's just, it's just like a fun, a fun topic. Um, I want to start off with, though, just a little intro about you, but we'll do it through the lens of the Enneagram. So tell us which type you most identify with and what about that type resonates with you.
SPEAKER_00So I am a type two with a three wing. So it's funny because a lot about the type two resonates with me. I know I'm definitely that person who is a helper. And I do have that achiever wing. So it's so interesting because there's definitely been many times in my life where I'm always a person that's like, let me help you do this, let me support you in this way or that way, which really helps as a coach because I love being able to support clients. And at the same time, I'm also have that achiever wing. So I definitely see those moments where I'm like, I want you to succeed. Even if, you know, maybe even probably more than people want it for themselves. So I always have to kind of like think about taking a step back and remembering, especially as a coach, like what do they want to achieve? Not just what you want to achieve for them or what you want them to achieve in life. It's like take a step back, Tamisha, and remember to kind of balance that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And what do you like? What do you feel like knowing that has helped you do more of or maybe less of?
SPEAKER_00I think for me, it's really helped me, especially in this season. I've taken a step back from like the coaching as much to really make sure I get very clear on who I want to work with because I do realize there's a lot of people out there who, because I am the helper, just are naturally drawn to me. But I also realize that they're not always the best clients to work with because maybe they don't necessarily have the motivation to do it as much as I would love them to do. So it's really helping me navigate. Like sometimes you want to help people, but maybe I might not be the right coach for them. So I become more open to say, hey, I think this person might be better for you or help, or maybe you're not at the point where coaching makes sense right now for you. Maybe you need to think about this direction instead.
SPEAKER_02That's so good. I think we got all channels some of that type two energy lesson learned about that. Um, okay, so I want to get into how you help people, being the type two helper that you are, how you help people just kind of overall, like what drew you to the health and nutrition space and how are you helping people right now?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so what really drew me, interesting enough, was like I really wanted to help myself. So I, when I was in the Marine Corps, I actually got, I didn't get officially diagnosed, but I was told when um I was looking to do a specific overseas position that I had an autoimmune disorder. And at the time they hadn't given me official diagnosis. But from that period until, you know, when I left the Marine Corps, um, I started having all of these nutritional deficiencies and I was suffering from a couple of different health issues, but I hadn't yet gotten to the point where I could figure out and navigate exactly what it was. And it was in that process of kind of struggling with weight gain and struggling with food sensitivities that I was like, I need to figure out how to help myself. So I actually started learning more about nutrition and I became got my nutrition certification, not necessarily to work with people, but to kind of help myself. And it was like in that process of like sharing with people what I was doing, and then people started coming to me for advice and support. So I think for me as a helper, what I love doing is showing people how to do things in a simple and sustainable way. Because, like we talked about this earlier before we pressed record, like I do a lot of different things, but I also don't do a lot of different things. Like some people think that I do more than I actually accomplish, it's just because I'm very productive and very organized, but I'm not necessarily that person's like, I need to prep every single thing I eat. Yes, there's periods in my life where I can do that, but I'm also realistic and being like, no, I can also order meal delivery. Like someone else could do this work. There's periods in my life where I might say yes to a lot of things, but there's also periods in my life where I'm like, no, no, no, and no. And it may make people feel kind of weird and it makes me feel kind of weird because the natural helper of me wants to say yes, the natural people pleaser wants to say yes, but I also know like there's times where I have to say no for my own health and for my own stability, especially being autoimmune. So hopefully that answers your question.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, that was so good. So good. So let me ask you this. So um what I mean, you know, it's like, oh, of course, like yeah, you're supposed to take care of yourself, like of course you're supposed to eat healthy. Um, but like what sort of um I guess challenges or hardships do you see like your clients or the people that you're wanting to help like run into when they don't? And what is, I guess, what does not taking care of your health look like? Because I I think too, like whenever you're doing multiple things, maybe taking care of a family, trying to run a new business and trying to, you know, um run errands or whatever, there's a lot going on. And so you might think like, oh, like I'll sleep later or I'll just have an extra cup of coffee to get my energy level. Um, but I guess talk to us a little bit about just why the importance of, you know, exercise and eating well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think the thing that I notice a lot of people who come to me, you know, whether they're prospective clients or they actually become clients, struggle with is really understanding what works best for them. Because I think there's this tendency to kind of look at what everyone's doing on Instagram or what everyone's doing on this channel or that channel or TikTok, YouTube. And sometimes people don't understand that what works for someone else may not work for you. Yes, somebody else may do great on a vegan diet, but you as a person who may love like your ribs and chicken, it's gonna be a little bit of a struggle for you. And then thinking about the Enneagram specifically, there's certain types that aren't gonna do too well with restricted, like type twos for me were an example of, and I believe also, I'm trying to remember like all the numbers, I believe it's also type nines, actually, type nines for also two examples of like we don't really do great with restriction, and we don't necessarily love people telling us what to do. So if you have, if you're working with a coach or a dietitian who's saying you have to eat this certain way or you have to avoid this, you may actually have more resistance to it. So it's really helping clients understand I'm gonna give you recommendations and suggestions, but it's always going to be around what you're already doing and how can we enhance that versus telling somebody that you need to change overnight. Like one example is I worked with a client who actually didn't eat vegetables. This is the first time I've ever worked with anyone who was like, actually, I'm an adult, I don't eat vegetables. And I was like, that's interesting. So we had to kind of figure out how we could incorporate more vegetables into her diet, because that's something that, regardless of what how you eat, you need to eat vegetables. That's a very important micro, micronutrient and macronutrient in your diet. But we had to find a way for her to eat it. And there were certain things she was like, I tried kale, and she was very open to trying things. So it's like, okay, we tried the kale, we tried the cauliflower. She's like, absolutely not, absolutely not. But she loved doing stuff like soup. So we're like, okay, maybe you need to blend more of your ingredients. Maybe you need to incorporate this. So it's really helping people figure out what you are already doing well, how can we enhance that? And what little small things can we add, not necessarily adding a whole new thing, especially there was one person who was a prospective client that I actually chose not to work with because they wanted to change overnight. They were like, I'm gonna start exercising, I'm gonna start eating healthy, I'm gonna start doing this, I'm gonna start sleeping well, I'm gonna start stress managing. I was like, I'm gonna need you to focus on one of those things and do it well. And they refused to do it. They were like, no, I can do all of these things. And I was like, okay, well, you're not doing them all now. So how about you take the consideration of trying one? And she never spoke to me again. But I was like, that's fine, because that's not a client for me. If you really think, and I and I can guarantee you, I've followed her and she's still not doing any of those things because she's that type of person that really needs to take things slowly, but because she was looking at what everyone else is doing, she in her mind said, I need to do all of these things now. And I'm like, that's just not your personality type. You can't accomplish all these now. You you need to focus on one thing, do it well. I'm not saying you gotta be perfect at it, but do it well, and then you can start adding stuff because it's like about especially certain personality types. We do well when we see small achievements because those in our mind become these big wins, and you start saying to yourself, well, if I can achieve this, what else can I achieve? So some people just need that motivation, you know, whether you're on the achiever side or not.
SPEAKER_02Okay, and we didn't talk about how we were gonna tee this up, but you teed this up so good. Um, because now we'll we'll talk about each type specifically, because you're so right in that if somebody's um, you know, isn't gonna do well with a restrictive diet, it doesn't make sense to say eat this and this and this every Monday and that, you know, um that's not gonna last. So we're looking for sustainable, um, healthy habits. And the point of having this conversation today is really, you know, so you have that energy, you have the enthusiasm for your for your business and ultimately for your life, and you're a pleasure to be around most of the time. Um, because when these things are out of balance, you know, you you can feel depleted, you can, you know, your creativity tanks, your um patience sinks. Um, so that is the point of this conversation. And then before we get into it, I also just want to disclaimer that, you know, we are more than just a type. A type on the Enneagram is a number, there's characteristics, there's qualities, there are a lot of helpful things. But if something we say today doesn't resonate with the type that you feel is like you're dominant, it doesn't mean that you're not that type. It doesn't mean that the Enneagram is wrong. It means this, that you're a complex human being. And so, you know, take what we share today, you know, with a grain of salt. And I always say, you know, question if something doesn't fit with what you thought, question it. And then that is helpful in itself to ask to force you to ask yourself questions about like what's true for for you. So there might be a couple things on here that's true for you that's outside of your dominant type. So I always like to say that. Um, so Tamisha and I did a little prep for you because we did we wanted this to be concise and also helpful so that you could leave today and have at least one tip to think about to start to do. So we referenced a book called The Enneagram of Eating by Ann Gadd. And then Tamisha created this beautiful, um simple kind of what did you call it, strength opportunities and pathways for mindful eating. And she had SOP and I was like, oh, that's her military background. Yes, it is. I was like, oh um, so but I love it, I love it. So you're gonna get um a version of this to be able to download when when this um episode releases. So thanks, Tamisha, for that. But what I I think we're gonna do is just talk about kind of the um the overview of each type and kind of strengths, struggles. And then Tamisha has some really great um insight for how to create a sustainable, kind of mindful eating, healthy lifestyle practice around that. So shall we get started?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so we have, we'll just start, we'll start at the bottom with type one. Um type ones, their core desire, the thing that they're running towards is to be good, pure, perfect, have integrity, and do the right thing. And then the flip side of that is that they have this fear of being bad, corrupt, um, or wrong. And so um, Tanisha, I don't know, and we didn't really talk about how to do this, but do you want to talk a little bit about how that shows up in maybe um a good way um and then maybe a negative way, and then we can talk about, or just on a negative, maybe an area for improvement. Um, and then we can talk about the path forward.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it's such a great question. I would say for type ones, you know, the way it kind of shows up in like a strengths aspect is the fact that they, because they want to be role models, they're gonna be those people who are gonna not necessarily struggle to make healthy food choices, and there's generally gonna be someone that they can that you would aspire to be like. And at the same time, when it comes to like an opportunity, because like you said, they are more perfectionist, sometimes they may struggle with making the right food choice if they kind of see choices as being right and wrong. So, one of the things that can be easier for type ones is to kind of think about things of eating in more of an 80-20 approach where they're spending like 80% of the time focused on mindful eating and they're making those choices that make them feel comfortable, but they also allow that 20% that they allow themselves to deviate and have a little bit of healthy indulgence because that way they can kind of have that nice balance of you know, feeling like I'm eating necessarily healthy, but I'm not being so restrictive.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, okay, that that is great. I know that's gonna resonate with with the ones. And then I think we would also talk too just like body image is really big, like having the the perfect body. But you know, I'm sure you'll have something to say on this too. It's like it's not, yes, you want to look good so that you feel good, um, but then it's so much more than just like what you see on the outside. So that would be like another just a thought to to consider. It's like, yeah, you want to look great, but you also want to like be be taken care of and healthy on the inside as well.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. And not necessarily looking great to the point that you you don't allow your that you're how could I say this? Like that you don't allow yourself to have flaws, if that makes any sense. Like sometimes we can get so focused on the perfection that we look at any little small thing that deviates from this ideal as being wrong. So it's like making sure that you're like, well, that could be an ideal for someone, but is that necessary? Yes, lots of people love to have abs, but would you also do perfectly fine with a flat stomach if they're not visible abs showing? So it's like kind of giving yourself that permission to say what does mat what does it matter to me rather than what is necessarily an ideal for most people?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then to think too, like ones when they're when they're growing, they're going to a type seven, which tends to be a little bit more fun and open. I don't want to say fun, but spontaneous. Um, what else did I want to say? Self-accepting. And so thinking about exactly what you just said, um, how to kind of use that and create that 80-20 rule and not be so stringent. So so good. Okay. So um we'll maybe volley these back and forth, but because you're a type two, I don't I don't want to steal your thunder. So we'll talk about a type two next, which is what Tanisha is. And um also um, well, I'll come back to this thought. So a type two, their core desire is to be loved and wanted and feel appreciated and feel seen for being kind and loving and and caring. And so the flip side of that, the thing that they're running away from um is to be unwanted and is to feel unloved and dispensable and like they're replaceable. And so that shows up in all different ways in our in our life. And we all feel that way a little bit too, right? Because we have all nine, all my numbers inside of us. But as far as it comes to eating, we have that helper energy as well, like you were talking about. So, how does that play to a strength? And then what are some areas for improvement for our twos?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for twos, I think when it played for us, you know, and I obviously really resonate with this uh description of the two, is that we are our strength is the fact that we do enjoy preparing meals, not necessarily because we enjoy the art of cooking or baking, but because it's an expression of our love. And for some twos, especially if you grew up with food being something that was very cultural or familial, you may actually feel really inspired and have that kind of memory when you're cooking or preparing something that maybe your grandmother made. Like it brings back that memory and that love. But at the same time, like some of the opportunities for twos is recognizing that we can sometimes try to substitute that that craving and that need for intimacy with the craving that we have for food. So, really, an area of opportunity for us is kind of recognizing how we can get more into our body and recognize what is the intention behind the food choices that we're making. Are you craving the snacks or these sweets because you're actually craving something else, maybe attention, maybe you're craving some intimacy, maybe you're a little stressed out. So it's like there's nothing wrong with having those sweets, but let's figure out ways that we can be more intentional and maybe choosing a healthier option. So you might be that person that keeps snacks in the house that are like homemade gummies or you know, protein bars or stuff that you can snack up on mindfully, or you might be the person who does the opposite and not keep any snacks in your house. It's really up to you. So that I think could be helpful for us too.
SPEAKER_02And then the thing I'll the last thing I'll add for that is that twos go to the type four when they're living their best life, when they're in health, which fours tend to be a little bit more self centered, um, self focused. And so you're take your Still have that helper energy, but you're also helping yourself. And so just kind of reiterating and thinking about, you know, where do you go when you're stressed? And then where do you go? What type do you go to when you're in health? Let's see. Okay, so type three, our type threes are, um, I feel like all the entrepreneurs that I meet are always initially are like, I want to be a type three. Um, because the type three is also known as the achiever. Um and their core desire is to achieve it's to be respected and to be seen as successful, um, admirable, and really to be a role model. Our ones also are interested in that. Um, so are the the threes. And so the flip side of that is there's they fear of failure and they feel being exposed for the for the real version of themselves, um, and to be seen as worthless. And so, you know, eating-wise, what does that look like? Then if they're the achiever, how does how does that play out in the strengths they have for eating mindfully? And then what are some things that they need to be cautious of because of some of that three energy?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think with threes, their strength is the fact that they're really great at visualizing. So they can be those people who, when they have a vision and say, this is what my ideal health is going to look like, they actually can achieve it because that's gonna help them stay more focused because they have something that they're aiming for. Now, at the same time, one of the opportunities for threes is that they probably tend to live more of a hectic life. So they may actually be those who are prone to kind of ignore some of their bodies' needs. They may not be as um in tune to their hunger cues. So the the flip side of that is like they may undereat, so that's not helpful, but at the same time, they can also overeat because they go from oh, I need to eat something. So then they're stuffing food down and not realizing, like, oh, I'm full to the point that they're stuck. So that's like an area of opportunity. So with threes, it's kind of something that can really be helpful is learning how to kind of prioritize eating and making sure that they have kind of an eating plan so that while they're looking to achieve their goals, it's like make sure that you're actually planning your meals ahead because this is probably not the biggest focus for you. But when threes can kind of insert that into their plan for achievement, then they can sit there and see that oh no, eating these healthy foods is gonna give me energy, and that energy is gonna help me work, and helping me work is gonna help me achieve my goals. So it's kind of like finding out how how to fit meal planning and mindful eating into helping you achieve where you want to go.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and that's so good. Um, threes along with sevens and eights are in what they call like an assertive stance, and they have the most energy out of all the types on the on the Enneagram. Um, and so this is really important for the threes to be able to keep moving fast and far, which is what they want. And then I will say too, their growth number is a six, which type sixes strengths are very cooperative and collaborative. So I don't know, you know, if you want to add to anything here, but like maybe joining a group or um an online group or at the gym or some sort to help you um kind of channel some of that six collaboration community energy to help you reaching your goals.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I can definitely see that. Oops, so I didn't want to interrupt you. But no, I can definitely see that with threes is like they probably will be the person who likes challenges. I can assume, as in not like challenges in general, but like fitness challenges. Like they probably will do well in those types of environments because it's pushing them and moving them forward. So I I can kind of see, I don't know threes too well, even though three is my wing, but I do have a competitive side. So I can kind of see threes being great at that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then like, you know, posting your success, which is like helps you be, helps, helps you um hold yourself accountable. Okay, so we're gonna move into type four, which are fours, um, are some of my favorites because um they have this desire to find themselves, don't we all? But their theirs is really to be unique and to feel special um and to be to be accepted for their authentic self. And then their the thing that they're running away from is this fear of being defective, of being ordinary, of being mundane. So knowing that about the type four, what strengths do they bring that that can help themselves with their eating and exercise routine? And then what are some areas that might be um that could use some improvement?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would say type fours, because they're like very aware of their needs, that's like one of their strengths in comparison to like some of the other types that we've already talked about. So they do love to have a little bit more individuality and uniqueness when it comes to their food. So they're probably gonna be like less likely to be attracted to bad diets just for the simple fact that it may be kind of bland for them. So that's not something that's gonna be so attractive, but at the same time, they're probably more self-indulgent. So they kind of have to recognize when it comes to snacking, that's something that they want to be a little bit more mindful of because they do have that tendency to kind of lose control when they're not necessarily um focused so much on what their body needs versus like what they are choosing to indulge in. So something that could be helpful for fours is learning how they can kind of work with rather than against their body's needs and really focusing on um, like, you know, kind of like meal planning, but a little bit more mindfulness when it comes to their eating. I could sit there and see that being something that could be very helpful for a type four.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And then the other thing, you know, about a type four is they they they have a lot of feelings, like they're in that feeling triad with the two threes and fours, and their growth number is a one. And so they can channel some of that discipline and structure and routine and maybe help them set up an eating plan or an exercise plan, even when they don't feel like it or they're feeling bad. But it's like, let me channel that one energy and make and make that um happen for them. Okay, so we have type five. Okay, so our type fives, they are really wanting to be seen as competent and self-sufficient. And then their worst nightmare is to be seen as incompetent um and incapable um and not self-sufficient. So tell us, Tunisia, how does that show up in their eating and exercise style?
SPEAKER_00So I think for type fives, um, what it seems like they have a little bit more of a tendency to, they don't really necessarily have too much, they don't see food as being something that is super important. So they're not necessarily that concerned about food. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. I kind of wish I was a little bit more like a type five. But the thing is they that they because they are more grounded and connected to their body, they tend to make like healthier food choices in general, just because that's just the way a type five is. But something that could be the type fives will need to be a little bit more aware of is that they're not always um tuned in to like hunger cues as well, similar to other types. So they might be more tended or prone to kind of skipping meals or snacking or you know, snacking on whatever's easily available. So, you know, one of the things that can be an opportunity for for type fives is being is bringing some awareness and intention to their meals. So they may be the ones who might need to actually schedule in their meals for the day, which may seem weird to some other types, but for them it could be more helpful because it's just not something they think about. It's not at the necessarily at the top of their mind to like eat or exercise. So that could be very helpful for a type five.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because five, six, and sevens we're all in our in the thinking triad. And so fives especially are in the head. And so I loved what you said about kind of getting in touch with your body and feeling your physical needs. Um, and then fives go to a type eight in growth, which they can channel that self-confidence, gut trusting, um, become more assertive and energized. And so all of that is great when it comes to taking care of our health and getting out there and exercising and having the motivation to, like you said, eat and take care of our health like we we need to. Um, okay, and then type six. Okay. Um our type sixes are looking to feel safe and secure and feel supported and be stable and grounded. And so the nightmare of a set or a six is to is really fear itself. Like we all have a fear of something, and then a six is kind of the afraid of the fear. Um, and so being on their own without support or guidance. So I can see this play into eating and and health um a lot. But how how do you see the strengths for a six and then some of the areas for improvement?
SPEAKER_00So, with sixes, the the great thing about sixes is that they are what um tend to be more confident in their food choices. So they're the people who don't really have too much of a worry when they're dining in or dining out. Um, so they're probably gonna be a little bit more competent in the kitchen or in general, just like following type of recipe, following recipes a little bit more closely. Um, at the same time, some opportunities for six is that they can tend to be a little bit more rigid when it comes to their food choices and may stick to diets more out of duty than they're actually wanting to do it. So something that could be very helpful for type sixes is to have a little being able to have that balance of eating things that they feel very comfortable with, but also experimenting with new food. So it adds a little bit more variety to their palate and then it helps them make mindful choices without necessarily feeling so restrictive. So having that little, so maybe an 80-20 probably may not feel comfortable for a six, but maybe a 90-10.
SPEAKER_02Well, and I'm so glad you said that um because their growth number is a nine, which they can channel some of that more relaxed, serene energy. So exactly what you said. Um, also maybe becoming a little bit more optimistic and receptive of other ways of doing something, like you said, kind of moving away from that rigidity, rigidity, the rigidness. There we go. Um, okay, and then type seven or round in the corner. Um, their desire is to be satisfied and happy and content. And then their fear is being deprived, trapped in emotional pain, um, feeling bored, limited in some way. So I can think of, you know, some of the things that we've already talked about for things to do could be the opposite of what to do for a seven. So, what do you have for sevens as far as what they're going to excel at and maybe areas to be aware of?
SPEAKER_00Yes, I'm so interested in this one too, because I because you're a seven and see what you might resonate with. But from what I was able to find, sevens are able to kind of examine and satisfy their genuine needs, which is awesome because, you know, unlike type twos, which sometimes we might, you know, kind of indulge our needs with cravings, it doesn't seem like sevens actually struggle with that because they're able to be a little bit more to slow down with their eating, to more to savor their mind, their um, savor each piece and every mouthful. So they're probably the people that mindful eating was like legitimately created for. I would be very interested to kind of see if like whoever created that concept of mindful eating was a seven, because I kind of feel like they probably were. But at the same time, like the opportunities for seven is because there's a tendency to be constantly on the go. You know, there may not necessarily be that time to kind of sit down and satisfy their meals, and also similar to other types that don't enjoy deprivation, sticking to a diet is probably not going to be something that a seven necessarily loves doing. So something that could be an opportunity or really a pathway to help them kind of eat more mindfully is enjoying and having a little bit of everything. I kind of feel like what's that pescetarian, you know, like having that style of eating or, you know, a flexitarian diet will probably do really well for a seven. So just having a little bit of flexibility, very less rigidity when it comes to them being able to satisfy their hunger. That way they're able to kind of enjoy a little bit of everything.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so I didn't want to interrupt you, but I've been dying because literally everything you said, I'm like, oh my God, yes. I was literally um like skipping meals, eating too quickly, snacking my listen, you just described every day of my life. And then um I consider myself a vegan, but I still eat fish sometimes and like occasionally like a slice of turkey, depending on where it's from. So, like totally like I don't want to say I'm like completely, you know, a vegan, but identify. So that's so funny and so true about um literally everything that you said. I feel that's on point as a seven. And um, you know, the growth path for a seven is to the the type five. And so we're able to sit with um a little bit more stillness and like you were talking about like enjoying meals and like appreciating and maybe like savoring them versus like shoving them in our mouth and snacking mindlessly. Um and less becomes more with that type, which I can totally see um just kind of playing out with some of the mindful eating techniques you said. Um okay, so we are gonna jump into the type eight, which um type eights, um, their core desire is to be in control, um, which I can see having a lot of things play out here with eating and exercise to be strong and have um order to in order to protect themselves. And so the worst fear is being controlled, weak, or harmed in some way. So let me know, Tamisha, like what are what do you see as some of the strengths for our AIDS and what are some areas for improvement and ways to maybe eat a little bit more mindfully for our type eights?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because AIDS have a tendency to really know what they want, they know their needs very well. You know, that's one of the good strengths, the the strengths of AIDS is that they're able to make fast decisions. So they're likely that person that can go into like the Cheesecake Factory's thousand-page menu and just pick what they want and move on with life. So they're really great at like fast decision makers and they're and they probably have a tendency to not be really fussy when it comes to their food. At the same time, because AIDS do like control, they might have a kind of a need to a little bit dominate or feel like they're making food choices that put them at a perceived ideal level than other people. So that may cause them to kind of stuff down their feelings and not be so in tune to those things, which can be difficult because they have more of a tendency to lack self-restraint. So there might be a little bit of a desire for instant gratification, which could come from foods that might not be the healthiest choices for them. At the same time, like one of the things that can really be an opportunity for um type eights is understanding that, you know, making mindful eating choices, you know, similar to other types actually helps them eat healthier, which gives them the energy that they need to be able to do some of the things that they want to do in life. So it's kind of helping eights understand that making these choices is for them, not necessarily for other people. So similar to type twos or like who are like, I'm doing this for other people, eights kind of need to be like, no, I'm doing this for myself.
SPEAKER_02Which um is so, yeah, that is really interesting because an eight goes to a two in health. And so they take on some of those qualities. And um yeah, yeah. So that's a that's really something interesting is to be to be aware of. And they do have a lot of energy, so they need to fuel that body um to be able to execute on all the things that they want to do and have that energy. Um, okay, so our type nine um are really are looking for inner peace. And their worst fear is to not have peace, um to be in conflict, and really to um to be separated because of from people that they care about because of something in in to do with conflict. Um, so how does that show up, or what are some strengths and areas to be aware of for our type nines and how can they be more mindful when it comes to their health?
SPEAKER_00So, type nines, they have a tendency to be really physically and emotionally self-aware. So they're the people who don't really struggle to make necessarily um healthy food choices, and because they're able to kind of fall into routines very easily, they're someone who probably enjoys cooking and they can also eat leftovers and they don't really have a struggle when it comes to snacking. They will snack, but they're pretty mindful snackers. Um, at the same time, interesting enough, type nines don't really love being controlled. So they're also gonna be a type that doesn't necessarily enjoy following strict meal plans or strict diets, they do tend to feel the need to be more um, they they tend to be a little bit disconnected in their body in those experiences. So for them, you know, for type nine specifically, it's gonna be preferable for them to find the path of least resistance when it comes to eating. So they're gonna need something that's simple and easy that they can maintain. So whether that's a healthy eating plan that maybe, you know, they have support from a coach or a dietitian would be helpful, but nothing that's actually too restrictive for them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and you know what's interesting about what you just said, Tanisha, excuse me, is that um eight, nines, and ones are all in the body triad, but the nines are repressed in in their bodies. So exactly what you just said. And then for our nines, they go to a three in growth. They're so they're taking on those healthy qualities like goal setting and assertiveness and more energy and bringing that to their um life, but specifically in this case, you know, goal setting for health and um eating habits. So um I we could, you know, probably do an hour episode on each type about eating and exercise alone. This was a you know, just a really great overview. And I think the point of this was just to um help us understand that exactly what you teed this up with at the beginning. There is no one right way. There is no diet, there is no magic food, there is no magic routine, it's what works for you. And that may change over time. What worked, you know, running may have worked for you the last five years, but maybe now it's swimming, you know, who knows? Um, what other, I mean, you talk about this all the time. I know like this is this is your world. What words would you leave us with before I ask you for a couple of closing questions to keep in mind as we you know try to take on some of these mindful eating habits?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think you said something that was so key is that, you know, the even though these are different types and you know, we're just utilizing the the book that we got, the idiogram of eating, just to remember that this doesn't put you in a box and it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't expand by outside of it. Like there's obviously aspects of being a type two or type seven that we are gonna work at because now we're more mindful of. So now you can kind of give yourself more grace when you have those moments where maybe you're struggling with snacking or you can't stick to that diet. You can understand, oh, it's probably because this is not necessarily the most effective strategy for my type. So, how can I make adjustments? Do I necessarily have to be a strict vegan or can I add a little bit of flexibility to it, you know, to make me feel more comfortable and be able to sustain this? So it's basically figuring out what works best for you. And I think one of our vocal cultures always says, like, keep keep what works for you and throw out the rest.
SPEAKER_02Yes, so so good. Um, okay, so I also love to ask about um book recommendations, any resources specifically on health and nutrition that we should go order and from Amazon, and then any just life in general books that you're reading right now that have had a positive impact.
SPEAKER_00Oh, good question. So I'm gonna be biased and say the ideogram of eating, you know, definitely with Anne Gad. I think it's a really helpful book. There's obviously aspects of the book that I'm like, I'll skip that part. So totally, but it's a nice, great um, I think, overview to kind of if you want to dive deeper into this topic. And another book that I found really helpful that when I first started um adding more plant-focused diet, even though I'm not plant-based, I do try to be more plant-focused, is the whole foods diet. And I was very surprised at that book. It didn't 100% convince me, but it 99.9% convinced me I should go vegan, but it didn't get me at that last 1%. But it's such a good book. And I what I like about it is they add a lot of practicality to different choices that you can make and explain how certain cultures have really thrived with more of a plant-based or even you know, a plant-focused diet. So I think it's a very helpful book that if you aren't 100% convinced about going plant-based, but you want to add a little bit more um of a plant-focus, it definitely is a good book to read that that might convince you.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay. I'm gonna I'm gonna have to add that um on there. And then any book about like uh starting a business or just mindset getting out of your way, anything else?
SPEAKER_00I am reading, I'm I this is my confession. I'm always in between like 20 books that's not on purpose, but it's like I start a book and then I stop it. But one thing that I'm actually starting to that I'm like in between and I'm and I'm gonna get close to being finished. Let me think about oh, what was I thinking about? Um, it's actually by Tiffany the Bajanista Alice. She just wrote a book, and why am I forgetting the name? Oh, good, get good with money. So it's a very helpful, and I think for entrepreneurs, it can really be helpful because you know, if you're someone who maybe came into entrepreneurship with student loan debt, or maybe you're looking to buy a house, there's lots of different things that maybe some of us like I didn't grow up with finances being a something that my parents talked about. It was kind of like you I had to figure a lot of things out on my own. And you know, early on with lots of student loans, I didn't make the best choices. Even starting my business, I took on more debt than I really wish I had. So it's a great book to kind of help you realize where you are now and then start building to where you want to go. So it's like helping you achieve financial. She calls it wholeness rather than rather than freedom because not all of us don't love. I love working. So it's like I don't necessarily want to go vacation and live a laptop lifestyle. Like I'm not trying to retire at 20. Well, I'm 33, so I can't retire at 25. I'd have to go back in time. But I'm not trying to retire at 40. Like I love working, but I want to be able to enjoy life in that process as well.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I just have choices. Oh, I'm so glad I asked you again because that sounds like an amazing. I just looked it up. Yeah, beautiful cover. And um, that goes along with being healthy, you know, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, money-wise. So um, with that, um, let me ask, what do you have going on? Where can people find you? What should they know about um with what you're working on next?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you can find me on Facebook and Instagram. I'm primarily on both right now. I'm doing a little bit more on Instagram than I did in the past at Tanisha Campbell. And really what I've been working on is getting very um adding a little, I'm actually in an example, I call this one of our mutual um coaches, Tiffany, and I talked the other day. We talked about being an exploration phase. So I'm giving myself the opportunity to explore this season to kind of figure out where I want the business to go because I was doing a lot of things as the achiever type three wing that I am, but maybe to the point that I was like getting myself a little bit burnt out. So because of that, I've taken a step back to say, okay, Tanisha, you don't have to do all the things. So you can find me on Facebook and Instagram, mostly doing stories. Lots of reels. I've been I've paused on the reels when I'm gonna get back into them. But yeah, you can definitely find me there. Feel free to DM me. I like chatting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I was gonna say two things. Um, one, I love that you shared that because I think I've been in the exploratory phase myself. I just don't know what to call it. And um it's like there comes with like some shame and like guilt, and I feel like this could be a topic at some point too. But um, so I thank you for being open and sharing that because um you were 100% not alone. And then um I have to tell you guys, Tamisha's Instagram stories are gonna make you want to go out on exercise because she's like doing it in the heat. She's like, I just ran five miles, and I'm like, what am I doing with my life? I can I need to go take the dog for a walk at least. So if nothing else, you will get inspiration and motivation from Tamisha's Instagram story. So definitely check her out. Tamisha, I really appreciate you being here. I appreciate um all the time you spent to get ready for this. And um, I look forward to hopefully doing some more uh collaborations in the future.
